In a world divided into four kingdoms, each represented by a different season, there are strange occurrences that threaten the peace. The Quadeities, responsible for assigning duties, have suddenly become a danger to the balance. A group of adventurers embark on a mission to uncover the mysteries of their destiny and travel from kingdom to kingdom in search of answers. Players can choose up to three different roles for each character, providing a wide range of talents, effects, and outfits. In turn-based combat, players can charge special orbs to use the Act Over ability, allowing for up to four consecutive actions. The charming pixel graphics of this fantasy JRPG provide a delightful experience on its own. The story of Chroma Quaternion revolves around the concept of fate, whether it is accepted or resisted. In this world, the Quadeities assign roles to the citizens through the maidens of each kingdom. While these roles are binding, it is up to each individual to make the most of their abilities. Some may even take on multiple roles, but only with the blessing of the deities. The main characters, Ark and Foure, join forces with the princess and her maid, Evaile, to investigate strange weather in their town of Furyu. They suspect that it may be related to a disruption with their kingdom’s deity and set out to uncover the truth. As the story progresses, unexpected twists and revelations keep the players on their toes. Unlike many JRPGs, Chroma Quaternion avoids love triangles and instead focuses on each character’s journey and struggles. While the gameplay of Chroma Quaternion follows the traditional turn-based JRPG format, it introduces the concept of roles, similar to jobs or classes in other games. Each character can have up to three roles, which level up alongside the characters. This system keeps battles and progression exciting but requires a significant amount of grinding. Despite its strengths, Chroma Quaternion does not stand out among other RPGs from developer KEMCO. The plot is average, and the characters are not the most memorable. However, the game still offers a fun and engaging experience for players.
